The Binków Housing Estate in Bełchatów is a former suburban village that was incorporated into the city on 1 February 1977. The older part of the estate was built in the 1980s and 1990s in connection with the city’s development following the construction of the Bełchatów mine and power plant. The architectural design of the estate was created by Miastoprojekt in Łódź and took into account some of the postmodernist trends of the 1980s: varied building heights, sloping roofs, dormers and distinctive colours.
