Częstochowa, The world’s largest monument to John Paul II

The Pope’s monument stands within the ruined Park of Sacred Miniatures in Częstochowa, which operated from 2011 to 2019 in a former quarry on the slopes of Złota Góra. The statue stands 13.8 meters tall, weighs 10 tons, and is the largest monument to John Paul II in the world. It was created at the initiative of Leszek Łysoń, president of the company that built the park. It was unveiled in 2013 in the presence of Archbishop Wacław Depo and Krzysztof Matyjaszczyk, Mayor of Częstochowa. Address: Częstochowa, Złota Street (Złota Góra – former quarry area).
