A hotel in the center of Gdańsk, at the intersection of Grodzka and Sukiennicza Streets, built between 2006 and 2012. The Szotyńscy Architectural Studio (Małgorzata and Szczepan Szotyńscy), creators of the renowned Crooked House in Sopot, is responsible for the design of this unique building. The hotel stands on the site of the entrance gate to a late Gothic Teutonic castle, and during its construction, archaeologists made a discovery that dates Gdańsk’s foundation from the 10th to the 9th century. The designers envisioned the undulating walls, arches, and irregularities, as well as the use of red brick on the façade, as a reference to the city’s history and a “transformation of the past into the present.” Address: Grodzka Street 19, Gdańsk.
