Although the Gorzów city council considered the construction of the tower to be a mistake ‘from the point of view of the quality of space’ and in 2016, during official city celebrations, tried to ‘launch it into space’, it does not intend to demolish or transform the structure. There were many ideas: to convert the building into a municipal aquarium, cover it with green vines, demolish the openwork sphere, plough it up… The landmark, officially called InfoGLOB, was built in 2007 according to a design by the Format studio (Małgorzata, Waldemar and Mateusz Kłosowski). Just a year later, it won the title of Makabryła, the ugliest building in Poland. To this day, it is criticised and ridiculed, but on the other hand, it has become the most characteristic building in Gorzów Wielkopolski, photographed and filmed in many materials presenting and promoting the city. Over the years, it has also become an icon of late postmodern Polish architecture. Apart from its function as an observation tower (20 m), it also serves as a (not very popular) shopping centre, consisting of 10 premises in the underground section. Address: Rondo św. Jerzego, Gorzów Wielkopolski.
