The church was built between 1979 and 1991, designed by Henryk Buszko and Aleksander Franta, architects of the Tysiąclecia Housing Estate in Katowice (where it is located). It consists of a lower church dedicated to Our Lady of Health and the main church dedicated to the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. The church features sculptures by Gustaw Zemła.
