The PZU building in Opole was built at the turn of the century among the historic tenement houses of the city center. Previously, before and after World War II, the prestigious Monopol Hotel operated on this site, renamed the Bristol Hotel in 1946. In the 1960s, the building was abandoned and demolished the following decade. An empty square remained, which served as a parking lot until the end of the communist era, and after the change of regime, it became a marketplace known as “Balcerowicz Square.” The building, built by PZU, was designed by Barbara Domeyko-Gabor. Address: Ozimska 5, Opole.
