An apartment building in Poznań’s Winogrady district, built in 1997 according to a design by the Klimaszewska & Biedak studio. It was developed by Ataner, whose CEO, assessing Batman and other postmodern projects by the company years later, said that ‘in the 1990s, we had to let off some steam from the past’ (Wyborcza). The block was given the name of the masked superhero because of the (once) black façade of the building and its silhouette seen from the air, resembling a flying bat. The building’s characteristic features include arched ‘wings’ separating the individual segments of the apartment building, topped with sharp glass bay windows, and a semi-circular external lift located centrally on the façade. Address: 32 Słowiańska Street, Poznań.
