2026-02-04
The Szczecin ‘ice palace’ was built between 2011 and 2014 on the site of the neo-Renaissance German Konzerthaus, which was demolished in 1962. It was built at a cost of over PLN 100 million according to a design by Estudio Barozzi Veiga from Barcelona. It has won numerous awards, including the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award (to date, it is the only building from Eastern Europe to have won this award).
