A fixture on various lists of the ugliest buildings and churches in Poland, it was built amidst technical and financial challenges over a 30-year period, starting in 1983. The church, which has drawn sharp criticism (the architect is “obsessed with wavy lines” – whyart.pl), but also interest (and sometimes recognition), was designed by Tadeusz Zipser, a renowned Wrocław architect, professor and rector (1981) of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, author of projects including the Church of the Holy Spirit in Wrocław and the equally controversial Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Grajewo. In 2015, an 8-meter-high climbing wall, “Skałka,” opened inside one of the church’s towers. It is one of the main attractions of the Sports and Social Activity Center operating within the church. Address: Nowodworska 64, Wrocław.
